The MKO MMIWG Liaison Unit hosted its 7th annual Healing Gathering in Thompson, Manitoba, from March 2-4, 2023, for families and survivors of gender-based violence.

The Stolen Sisters Memorial March is an annual event in Victoria, BC, honouring MMIWG2S and providing a space for mourning, healing, and raising awareness.

This song was written by Kym Gouchie as she took part in a healing walk to raise awareness of MMIWG on the Highway of Tears. Angela Rudden, a music instructor in Toronto, had her students write an orchestral score to accompany the song, and Gouchie recorded a vocal track to work with the arrangement and included it on her album Northern Shining Star Woman.

At the Perth Healing Forest Memorial, Elder Francine Desjardins led a Summer Solstice ceremony to honour Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, & Two Spirit People and support Black Lives Matter, acknowledging systemic violence in Canada.
