This organization spans across most of Canada, and has the goal of assisting Indigenous men who are trying to leave the lifestyle of crime, violence, and addiction. They also provide mentoring, food and clothing, as well as peacekeeping services to events, functions and hostile environments.

Families Helpline
The helpline was launched by the New Brunswick Aboriginal Peoples Council as part of the larger Looking Out For Each Other campaign in Canada and Quebec and it is staffed by Gignoo Transition House, an Indigenous safe house in Fredericton. The helpline number is 1-833-MMI-FIND and operates 24 hours a day.

Family Members and Community Heal
A sharing circle that was first spontaneously started by Angel and Rose Fontaine, who wanted to hold a smudge on the anniversary of Jeanenne Fontaine’s murder. At first there were five members from their childhood friendship group that gathered to pray, share food, drum and support each other, and they later had new members join them.

First Nations Search, Rescue and Patrol Program
Peters is leading an initiative to train First Nations communities in search and rescue operations, collaborating with local police and search organizations in Chilliwack, Agassiz, and Hope, aiming for a grassroots program led by Indigenous women, with a coordinator and 5-10 volunteers trained in each community across Canada.

Giigewigamig Traditional Healing Centre
Giigewigamig is a First Nations place of healing located in Pine Falls, Manitoba, and independently operated by Sagkeeng, Black River and Hollow Water First Nations. Giigewigamig provides wholistic care to community members, and is also a gathering place for loved ones to support their family members as they seek care.

Indian Homemaker’s Association (IHA)
The Indian Homemakers’ Association (IHA) of B.C. was a non-profit organization made up of Indian women that started in 1969 in order to improve the living conditions within First Nations communities, including providing adequate facilities on reserves, facilitating training programs, fighting discrimination, promoting equality and establishing political recognition for women and Indigenous peoples. The IHA was dissolved in the early 2000s.

Kanawayhitowin: Taking Care of Each Others Spirit
Kanawayhitowin is a Cree word, which in English translates to “taking care of each others spirit”. Kanawayhitowin is an Indigenous campaign adapted from the Neighbours, Friends and Family initiative in the province of Ontario, and aims to raise awareness about the signs of woman abuse in communities so that people who are close to an at-risk woman or abusive man can provide support.

Kenora Makwa Patrol
The Kenora Makwa Patrol was started in 2016 after the disappearance of 16 year old Delaine Copenace, and used to be the Kenora Chapter of the Bear Clan Patrol that originated in Winnipeg. They patrol by vehicle and by foot to build relationships with people experiencing homelessness, work with community partners and organizations, and often share food, water, snacks and kindness.
