War Pony

In the spirit of Indigenous resurgence and resistance, the War Pony embodies the power of movement—of memory, of justice, and of people across the land who refuse to be erased. It honours the warriors who rise in grief, in courage, and in love to protect and uplift their communities.

The War Pony is not a mascot. It is a messenger. A mover. A medicine carrier.

Within Unearthing Justices, the War Pony symbolizes our collective mobilization against the systemic, gendered, and racial violence that Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit+ people face. It carries the weight of those lost and the determination of those who continue the fight. It is a living reminder that we do not stand still in the face of injustice—we ride.

The War Pony travels with our grassroots partners, gathering their stories, tools, and strategies. As it moves through communities, it helps map the strength and wisdom that already exists across Turtle Island. Whether through digital relays, ceremonial walks, or virtual networks, the War Pony is the thread that connects a shared resistance and vision for justice.
