The podcast series delves into the epidemic of missing and murdered indigenous women, exploring topics such as tribal sovereignty, human trafficking, court systems, and cases of missing and murdered indigenous people.

The Signal for Help podcast, produced by the Canadian Women’s Foundation and Media Girlfriends, aims to break the stigma around gender-based violence by supporting survivors and educating the public. Episode 5 focuses on Brandi Morin, a Cree/Iroquois/French award-winning journalist and bestselling author, and her personal story and mission with the MMIWG crisis.

Indigenous writers/directors Jacquie Black, Kaniehtiio Horn, Monique Hurteau, and Eve Ringuette, inspired by the National Inquiry into MMIWG, created podcasts with diverse voices across Canada to honour lost loved ones and inspire action.

The podcast, spanning eight episodes, reopens Alberta Williams’ 27-year-old murder case after a new tip, detailing her life in the Gitanyow Band and her discovery along the Highway of Tears in 1989.
