Inuvik Drum Community Art Showcase: Red Dress
The Inuvik Drum featured an art piece titled “Red Dress” for the October 29, 2024 edition of its Community Art Showcase, in which they highlight artworks sent in by their readers. The “Red Dress” art piece was created by students in East Three Elementary School’s grades 4A and 5B, to honour missing and murdered Indigenous women.

Penticton Sister in Spirit Walk
On October 4, 2024, the annual Sisters in Spirit Walk in Penticton, British Columbia began at the SS Sicamous and proceeded to Gyro Park. Participants walked alongside trees adorned with red dresses, representing the lives lost to violence against Indigenous women. The walk aimed to raise awareness about MMIWG2S, to honour their lives, and to call for justice and change.

Sisters in Spirit Day ceremony to commemorate Mona Lee Wilson
A ceremony on October 4, 2024, to commemorate the life of Mona Lee Wilson, also known as Running Bear, which took place on the Peachland waterfront at a tree planted in her memory.
