They are involved in advocacy, outreach and community mobilization in schools and communities, and make workshops and teach-ins to ensure culturally safe sex education, violence prevention, harm reduction, reclaiming rites of passage and many more.

Tamara’s Walk

The walk is named after Gladys Radek’s niece, Tamara Lynn Chipman, who went missing in 2005. The walk takes place on the Highway of Tears and is to remember MMIW, with Downtown Eastside Vancouver Women’s Centre Elders participating.

The purpose of this database is to our honour these women and provide family members with a way to document their loved ones passing while asserting community control of our own record-keeping.

This memorial vigil for Geraldine Beardy took place on September 18, 2015, in Jacob Penner Park, in Winnipeg. It was organized by Ka Ni Kanichihk at the request of elder Eliza Beardy, to honour her granddaughter memory. The event included the distributing of Klik and bannock, drumming, prayers, and speakers.
