Highway of Tears (2006)

“Labeled: The Missing, Murdered, and Forgotten” is a documentary episode that explores the abuse and systemic racism faced by Indigenous women in Edmonton’s sex industry, aiming to raise awareness and advocate for change.

A documentary by Byron Hamel featuring Indigenous teenager Brianna Jonnie, who advocates for MMIWG and wrote a letter which went viral to the Winnipeg Chief of Police when she was 14. Hamel also interviews members of Drag the Red, a group that looks for missing Indigenous people in the Red River, as well as Jaime Black, the artist behind the REDress project which memorializes MMIWG.
