On May 5th, 2024, Qalipu First Nation in Corner Brook hosted a Red Dress Day gathering, featuring a walk, speeches, and a mural to honour MMIWG2S+ and advocate for justice and healing.

The Revolutions Red Dress Fashion Festival in Kamloops, organized by Kim Coltman, featured models in red dresses to raise awareness for MMIWG2S, inspired by Métis artist Jamie Black’s REDress Project.

On November 25th, 2023, the Ontario Native Women’s Association hosted its eighth annual Poetry Night, “Strong Hands Stop Violence,” featuring Indigenous poets and musicians in Thunder Bay to raise awareness about violence against Indigenous women and girls.

Cherish Violet Blood, a Blackfoot actor from southern Alberta’s Blood reserve, describes her role in “Deer Woman” as a portrayal of reclaiming power amidst the widespread impact of violence against Indigenous women and girls, reflecting a reality that deeply affects her community.
