Morgan’s Warriors, a new Indigenous women-led community patrol group in Winnipeg, plans to operate without police assistance to address safety and trust issues, particularly for vulnerable Indigenous women, inspired by law enforcement’s failures in handling cases related to serial killer Jeremy Skibicki’s victims.

On May 5th, 2024, Edmonton held a Red Dress Day march and vigil, bringing together hundreds of participants to honour MMIWG2S+ with drumming, a round dance, and speeches from impacted families.

TMU’s Red Dress Day exhibits on May 5 and 6, 2024, honoured MMIWG2S through outdoor displays of red dresses and a micro gallery in the university library to raise awareness and promote justice.
