Trawling Winnipeg’s Rivers for the Bodies of Unsolved Murder Cases (Drag the Red)

This documentary provides an Indigenous viewpoint on the harrowing search for missing loved ones, featuring Kyle Kematch and Katherena Vermette, survivors who, despite differing experiences, embody resilience, grace, and activism in response to their shared tragedy.

A documentary by Byron Hamel featuring Indigenous teenager Brianna Jonnie, who advocates for MMIWG and wrote a letter which went viral to the Winnipeg Chief of Police when she was 14. Hamel also interviews members of Drag the Red, a group that looks for missing Indigenous people in the Red River, as well as Jaime Black, the artist behind the REDress project which memorializes MMIWG.

“Taken” is a true crime documentary series by APTN and CBC, shedding light on the mysteries of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls in Canada, sharing their stories and tracking the search for justice.
